The Healthy Eating Program provides healthy and fresh afterschool snacks for the elementary school students attending the after school program at the Winter Haven PEP Education Center. Snacks range from smoothies made by the kids to black bean salad and quinoa chips to fresh grown produce from our garden. All of the children we serve attend Title-1 schools and some live below the poverty line. The snacks provide nutrients that are essential for learning and growing.
The fundraising event will help ensure the continuation of the sucessful program. Food is included with the ticket purchase as well as complimentary beer and wine. All of the food served will be snacks previously served after school at the Education Center. There will be live music and a silent auction. Outback Oasis is a beautiful venue with lots of space to explore including a butterfly garden and residential kangaroos, Auzzie and Joey. The event is being hosted by Jessica Israel, PEP’s Healthy Eating Program Intern and College Scholarship Recipient and Audrey Nettlow, PEP Board member.
