Intro: The Winter Haven Public Education Partnership is realigning their volunteers, board and resources to be very intentional about the goals to tackle to support the needs in our Winter Haven schools. We are working closely with Polk County Public Schools and other educational institutions and programs to ensure that the community has clear pathways to get engaged in our schools.
As a part of that realignment, PEP has identified 7 areas of action that will be focused on for the next several years, and beyond, as needed. We have asked the school district for their support in identifying a district liaison to sit on the committee who has the authority to help make things happen. The district’s new “area director of community engagement” will also be heavily involved in these alignment committees as well as with any other education outreach/advocacy groups in the Winter Haven community. That position will be a part of the “pilot program” launching a new approach to community engagement in our public schools.
We will do a full community roll-out of the initiative at the “PEP Rally” on April 18, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at Grove Roots Brewing Co.’s Packing House. All are welcome!
